Created in 2019, FIA Formula 3 has established itself as a major step in the international single-seater development ladder. Positioned between Formula Regional and FIA Formula 2, the category gives young drivers the opportunity to compete at an international level before progressing towards the higher categories and, for some, Formula 1.
Review Formula 3 2029 documents the 2029 season session by session while bringing together the results from the eleven seasons contested since the championship was created in 2019. This new edition combines the detail of a complete season with a historical archive covering more than a decade of FIA Formula 3.
The inaugural 2019 season saw Robert Shwartzman become the championship’s first champion with PREMA Racing, ahead of Marcus Armstrong and Jehan Daruvala. Since then, FIA Formula 3 has provided an important stage for successive generations of drivers coming from karting, Formula 4 and Formula Regional. Robert Shwartzman, Oscar Piastri, Liam Lawson, Dennis Hauger and many other talents have used the category as a step towards FIA Formula 2 and, for some, Formula 1.
The eleven seasons documented provide a way to follow the drivers, teams, circuits and results that have built the history of the championship. Melbourne, Monaco, Barcelona-Catalunya, Spielberg, Silverstone, Spa-Francorchamps, Budapest and Monza are among the circuits associated with FIA Formula 3 within the Formula 1 Grand Prix environment.
The technical evolution of the championship is also part of this history. A new generation of single-seaters was introduced in 2025, with developments aimed in particular at improving safety and racing quality. Across the seasons, changes in drivers, teams, circuits and machinery provide a way to follow the evolution of a category that has become an established part of the development and identification of young racing talent.
