The Architecture of Memory: Why I Edit the Red Books

Motor Racing Guide Publishing is more than just an independent publishing house based in Marseille, France. It is the culmination of a lifetime’s work—the result of forty years of immersion and dual-career expertise. My mission is to transform the fleeting blur of racing into an immutable archive, guided by a single compass: absolute precision.

1982: The Spark and the Locking of a Passion

Everything began in the fury of April 1982. I was 11 years old, eyes glued to the screen, witnessing the legendary and fraternal battle between the two Ferraris of Gilles Villeneuve and Didier Pironi at the San Marino Grand Prix. That afternoon at Imola—which remains my heart’s circuit to this day, despite the tragic fate of Ayrton Senna in 1994—everything shifted.

The death of Gilles at Zolder a few weeks later, followed by Didier’s accident at Hockenheim which shattered his career, literally “locked” my passion. It was no longer just a sport; it was a human tragedy whose traces had to be protected. Since that date, I have observed, compiled, and structured the memory of racing (F1, IndyCar, Formula E, endurance, and MotoGP) on a daily basis. This project marks my transition from witness to guardian of this technical memory, transforming decades of notes and observations into an unchangeable archive.

The Founder: Pit Lane Rigour

My professional background is the guarantee of this project’s credibility. This publishing house is the meeting point of my two fundamental pillars: motorsport and web development. By uniting these two passions, I have created a unique synergy.

  • Industrial Rigour: Between 2011 and 2013, I had the privilege of working at the heart of the world’s elite as the webmaster for ORECA. There, I learnt that in this sport, the thousandth of a second and absolute precision are the only valid currencies. I was the digital guardian of major platforms: the campaigns for Toyota Hybrid at the 24 Hours of Le Mans and the challenges of Sébastien Loeb Racing. From managing the GT Tour to the French SEAT Championship and overseeing the technical hubs for brands like Red Spec or Turn One, I integrated the rigour of high-end engineering that is now the soul of my publishing house.
  • Technical Mastery: A developer since 1998, I possess the ability to build complex data architectures. This project marks the fusion of my skills: I am a developer-publisher. I put my technical expertise at the service of my historical passion to build my own industrial production tool.

The Transition: The Book as an Eternal Archive

For over twenty-five years, my daily life was defined by code and the intangible. I built virtual structures, websites, and online trade shows destined, by their very nature, to disappear. The web is a continuous flow, but it is fragile and perishable.

In April 2026, following a Social Redundancy Plan (PSE), I felt a visceral need to transform the ephemeral into the tangible. I no longer wanted my archives—patiently accumulated since 2000 in my personal databases—to remain prisoners of a server. I chose to move from the digital flow to the object that one owns, feels (the smell of ink, the grain of paper), and passes down. Creating these books is my way of leaving a lasting trace.

Red Books Engineering: Automated Publishing

Behind every work under the Red Books label (A4 Format – 21×29.7) lies an invisible but robust architecture. To guarantee total reliability, I designed a unique proprietary production chain where code becomes the book’s craftsman:

  • The Forge (Back-end): The core of the reactor rests on an MS Access architecture, fed and structured daily for 25 years. This “vault” centralises decades of statistics that constitute the DNA of every publication.
  • The Rendering Engine: Unlike traditional publishing, I use the WooCommerce ecosystem as a true industrial production terminal. When a product file is created, the system instantly triggers the PHP rendering engine: it generates the book in high definition (data tables and complex statistics), its signature red cover, and its presentation visuals.
  • Industrial Agility: This system allows for unique flexibility: creating a new work takes only a few minutes by duplicating a structure. This ensures the reader receives information of surgical precision, with zero risk of human entry error.

The “Red Books” Concept: The Aesthetic of Truth

In contrast to the permanent noise of social media, the Red Books are an act of resistance. I do not seek the buzz; I present facts, figures, and results tables of total reliability.

  • Timeless Design: A sober aesthetic inspired by the technical publications of the 1930s, inviting calm and concentration. The use of Cinzel fonts for titles and Crimson Pro for text gives the works an antique and institutional feel, facilitating the reading of dense data.
  • An Ecosystem of Precision: The collection is built around three pillars:
    1. Agendas & Guides: To anticipate and follow the season.
    2. Season Reviews: To archive the past year.
    3. Indexes & Yearbooks: To cross-reference historical data.

I invite you to dive into these pages—not to read an opinion, but to own a tangible piece of motor racing history.
