Created in 2019, FIA Formula 3 quickly established itself as a major step in the international single-seater development ladder. Positioned between Formula Regional and FIA Formula 2, the championship supports young drivers in their progression towards the higher categories and takes place on the same race weekends as Formula 1 and Formula 2.
Review Formula 3 2027 documents the 2027 season session by session while also bringing together the results from the nine seasons contested since the championship was created in 2019. This approach preserves both the detail of a single season and the historical continuity needed to follow the evolution of FIA Formula 3.
The inaugural 2019 season saw Robert Shwartzman become the first FIA Formula 3 champion with PREMA Racing, ahead of Marcus Armstrong and Jehan Daruvala. Since then, the championship has provided an important stage for numerous drivers coming from karting, Formula 4 and Formula Regional before progressing to FIA Formula 2 and, for some, Formula 1.
The early years featured drivers such as Robert Shwartzman, Marcus Armstrong, Jehan Daruvala, Jüri Vips, Oscar Piastri, Liam Lawson and Dennis Hauger. Beyond the championship standings, the results provide a way to follow successive generations of drivers, the teams that supported them and the circuits that have shaped the history of the category.
FIA Formula 3 is built around an international calendar, primarily competing as a support category at Formula 1 Grands Prix. Iconic circuits such as Melbourne, Monaco, Barcelona-Catalunya, Spielberg, Silverstone, Spa-Francorchamps, Budapest and Monza have hosted the championship throughout its seasons. Since 2025, a new generation of single-seaters has also introduced several developments aimed at improving safety and the quality of racing.
The book brings these different elements together in a single archive: sessions, races, results, drivers, teams, circuits and statistics. It allows readers to find a result, compare different seasons, follow a driver’s career or simply revisit a specific period in the recent history of international single-seater racing.
Like the other Reviews in the Red Books collection, Review Formula 3 2027 is not a journalistic account of the season. It is a reference book designed to preserve the data and organise the history of the championship in a physical, accessible and lasting format.
The 2027 edition therefore continues an annual collection documenting FIA Formula 3 since 2019, adding another season to an archive designed to grow year after year.
