Formula Regional Oceania enters a new era

The Formula Regional Oceania has established itself as one of the leading winter championships for young single-seater drivers. Integrated into the FIA Formula Regional category in 2023, the New Zealand championship has become an established stage in the international development ladder, attracting drivers from New Zealand and around the world.

Review Formula Regional Oceania 2029 documents the 2029 season in detail, session by session, while placing the championship within its recent history. The book brings together the results from the 2023 to 2028 seasons, creating a structured record of the series and allowing readers to follow the evolution of its drivers, teams, circuits and major events.

Since its integration into the FIA Formula Regional framework, the championship has seen several generations of young talents compete for the title. Charlie Wurz became the first champion under the FIA Formula Regional name in 2023, followed by Roman Biliński in 2024. Arvid Lindblad won the title in 2025, before Ugo Ugochukwu became champion in 2026. Their succession illustrates the role played by Formula Regional Oceania in the development of drivers progressing towards higher levels of international single-seater racing.

The 2029 season also belongs to a new technical era. From 2027, the championship adopted its second generation of Formula Regional machinery, based on the Tatuus T-326 chassis. The new car uses an evolution of Toyota’s 2.0-litre turbocharged engine producing around 280 horsepower and retains the push-to-pass system. Pirelli remains the official tyre supplier.

This new generation has also strengthened the international character of the series. The established teams M2 Competition, mtec Motorsport, Kiwi Motorsport, Hitech GP and TJ Speed Motorsport were joined by Rodin Motorsport, with the new era designed to accommodate a field of up to 22 cars.

As with the previous editions in the collection, Review Formula Regional Oceania 2029 is designed as an archive rather than daily sporting coverage. Sessions, results, drivers, teams and statistics are organised so that they can be consulted, compared and preserved over time.

This edition continues the series established with Review Formula Regional Oceania 2027 and followed by the 2028 edition. Each new volume adds another season to the archive, creating a continuous record of a championship that has become an important winter proving ground for the next generation of racing drivers.
